Janice Chieffo has been traveling the globe since she was 19 years old. She experienced her first taste of international travel in 1980, as a photo-journalism and art history student at Salzburg College, in Austria. She spent 6 months in Europe during that time, studying the art of photography and sharpening her knowledge of fine art. Janice completed her undergraduate degree at Northern Illinois University and went on to complete her Juris Doctorate degree at the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois in 1986. Throughout Janice’s 26 year career as a prosecuting attorney, she has visited over 40 countries on 6 continents and has helped planned trips abroad for countless friends and business associates. Janice retired from the practice of law in 2015 and now devotes her time to planning travel as a professional with Coastline Travel Advisors. Her attention to detail, extensive travel experience and sophistication help Janice to bring the best that travel has to offer, to her clients.
Favorite Travel Destination: I have many favorite travel destinations, and Cuba always tops the list. I am returning there for my 7th time this year! Cuba is very special to me because it is more than ordinary travel – it’s time travel. I had never visited a place where you are completely transported back 60 years while existing in the present moment.
Favorite Book to Take Traveling: I don’t take any particular books with me when I travel, but always bring a book that takes place in the location in which I am traveling. It is often a novel set in the country or city that I have chosen to visit.
3 Items I Never Travel Without: My cashmere eye-shades, ear-plugs and Timbuktu-messenger bag.
